Ljubljana's marathon runs through what is often described as Europe's most overlooked gem — a compact, beautifully preserved baroque capital that sits at the crossroads of Central and Southern Europe. The course follows the Ljubljanica River through the Old Town past Plečnik's Triple Bridge and the Dragon Bridge, climbs past Ljubljana Castle's wooded hillside, runs through the Tivoli City Park forest, and returns through Metelkova's alternative arts district. The 110m of elevation is moderate. October conditions of 7–14°C are cool and autumnal — ideal for running and beautiful for autumn foliage. Ljubljana's car-free city centre makes race logistics unusually clean.
