Turin's marathon runs through one of Italy's most underrated cities — the former Savoy royal capital and birthplace of Italian unification, with a baroque street grid and porticoed arcades that give it a distinctly French character. The course passes Piazza Vittorio Veneto (Italy's largest baroque square), the Egyptian Museum (the most important outside Cairo), the Mole Antonelliana — Turin's signature tower — and along the Po River's tree-lined viale. The Alps are visible throughout on clear November days, providing one of European marathoning's most dramatic backdrops. November conditions of 5–13°C are cool and often sunny. Turin's running culture has expanded substantially following the city's 2006 Winter Olympic legacy.
