The Taipei Marathon takes runners through the Taiwanese capital's contrasting faces: modern glass towers in Xinyi, traditional night market streets in Wanhua, tree-lined boulevards around Daan Forest Park, and the Presidential Office Building in the city centre. December brings Taipei's most comfortable running conditions β temperatures drop to 12β18Β°C, a significant relief from the humid summer months. The course has genuine undulations from crossing bridges over the Danshui River and navigating the city's varied topography, but nothing extreme. The event is exceptionally well-organised with consistent international-standard logistics. Taipei also makes for an excellent long-weekend trip: the food culture (from din tai fung to night market scallion pancakes) is world-class, and Jiufen and Yangmingshan are nearby for pre-race exploration.
