About this race
Osaka is Japan's kitchen — the city's identity is food, commerce, and unrestrained energy. The marathon reflects this: a flat route through Namba's neon-lit entertainment district, along the Okawa river past castle moat, through the business towers of Umeda, and along Midosuji boulevard. February conditions (7–14°C) are cool and ideal for running. Osaka's crowd support has its own character compared to Tokyo — louder, more improvisational, and with more food being offered on the sidelines (takoyaki, anyone?). The lottery is slightly less competitive than Tokyo's but still oversubscribed; charity entries are available through the Osaka Marathon Charity Program. An outstanding choice for runners already visiting Japan who want to experience a major city race with the full Japanese marathon hospitality.
