The Seoul Marathon is one of the oldest in Asia and consistently attracts a strong competitive field. The course starts at Gwanghwamun Square — in front of the iconic gate that marks the entrance to Gyeongbokgung Palace — and winds through Gangnam, across the Han River, and back through Yeouido's financial district. The March timing brings crisp temperatures (5–12°C), ideal for running but sometimes cold at the gun. Elevation gain of 145m comes from bridge crossings and the undulating nature of Seoul's topography. The crowd is passionate and the city's energy is palpable. International runners find the logistics straightforward, and Seoul as a destination offers an unbeatable combination of ancient palaces, futuristic street food culture, and the Namsan Tower backdrop.
