About this race

Copenhagen's marathon is Denmark's largest running event and one of Europe's most consistently enjoyable. The route is almost perfectly flat (10m of elevation gain over 42.2km), passing the colourful Nyhavn canal houses, the famous Little Mermaid statue, Frederiksberg Gardens, and the city's historic centre. The May timing brings ideal conditions — typically 12–18°C with low humidity. Danish organisation is, predictably, excellent: generous aid stations, a well-marked course, and a famously enthusiastic crowd that stays out to cheer even the back-of-the-pack finishers. The atmosphere combines Danish hygge warmth with genuine racing spirit. For first-time marathoners wanting an accessible, supportive environment, or experienced runners chasing a spring PB, Copenhagen is one of Europe's most recommended races.
