The Midnight Sun Marathon is one of the world's most unique sporting events: a full marathon in Tromsø, 350km above the Arctic Circle, with a midnight start under a sun that never sets in June. The course runs across the Tromsø Bridge over the Tromsøysund fjord, into the neighbouring island of Tromsøya, along the waterfront with the Arctic Cathedral reflected in the water, and through Tromsø's compact city centre. The 310m of elevation comes from the island's genuine hilliness. Temperatures of 7–15°C are ideal but unpredictable — Norwegian Arctic weather can shift rapidly. This is a race you run for the experience: the golden midnight light, the extraordinary landscape, and the story. Filled months in advance by international participants.
