About this race

Beirut is one of the world's most emotionally resonant marathons. The race runs through neighbourhoods that have witnessed extraordinary history — from the Corniche seafront with its Mediterranean views, through Hamra, Achrafieh, and Gemmayzeh, areas that have been rebuilt and rebuilt again. The 420m of elevation across Beirut's hilly terrain is significant — this is not a flat city — and the November weather can be warm (18–24°C) and humid. What Beirut offers is an atmosphere of defiant joy: tens of thousands of Lebanese runners and international participants celebrating the act of running together in a city that has refused to stop living. Crowd support is exceptional, music pumps from every corner, and the finish line on the Corniche, with the Mediterranean at your back, is a deeply moving experience.
