Lima's marathon runs through the most spectacular parts of Peru's capital — the dramatic clifftop district of Miraflores, with the Pacific 50 metres below; the bohemian arts district of Barranco; the financial district of San Isidro; and the broad boulevard of La Marina. August is Lima's dry season (despite the coastal garúa fog) and the city's curious climate of 15–20°C year-round makes conditions reasonably consistent. The 190m of elevation includes the climb from the seafront at Chorrillos back up to the Miraflores cliffs. Lima's culinary scene is world-class and post-race dining — ceviche, causa, lomo saltado — is as good as any marathon destination in South America.
