The Chevron Houston Marathon is North America's premier January marathon and one of its flattest anywhere. The course runs through downtown Houston, Hermann Park, the Museum District, and Memorial Park — a near-sea-level loop with just 45m of elevation gain. January conditions of 8–15°C are ideal, and the low humidity is a marked contrast to Houston's brutal summers. The race is a World Athletics Label event, attracting elite fields that regularly post top-10 world performances. Houston's running community is enormous — crowd support through Hermann Park and the medical district is excellent. This is the go-to US marathon for runners targeting a January PB before the spring season.
