Toronto Waterfront holds a World Athletics Gold Label — the highest certification — and is one of North America's fastest and most seriously-organised marathons. The course runs along Lake Ontario's waterfront, through Harbourfront, the Entertainment District, and back via the Don River trail system. The 70m of elevation is negligible, and the October conditions (8–14°C) are near-perfect for marathon racing. Elite fields regularly feature in the world top-10 performances, and the sub-elite and age-group fields are well-organised with proper pacer teams. Toronto's cosmopolitan character means excellent travel infrastructure and the race expo is well-stocked. This is the kind of race that serious time-chasers should have on their radar before it becomes oversubscribed.
