Great for newcomers — manageable course, strong support
The New Orleans marathon pairs the Rock 'n' Roll series' signature live-band format with one of the world's most musically rich cities — jazz combos, brass bands, zydeco outfits, and gospel choirs line the course through the French Quarter, Magazine Street, Audubon Park, and along the Lake Pontchartrain lakefront. February places the race in Carnival season, and the festive city atmosphere spills onto the course. The course is remarkably flat (45m gain) — technically a PB-capable surface — but February temperatures of 14–20°C and humidity can push finish times for unprepared runners. The finish on the New Orleans waterfront with the Mississippi behind you is a memorable moment.
