Great for newcomers — manageable course, strong support
Twin Cities holds a near-permanent position in Runner's World's 'Most Beautiful Marathons' lists, and a single lap of the course explains why. The point-to-point route from downtown Minneapolis to the State Capitol in St. Paul runs along the Chain of Lakes — a necklace of urban parkways and lakefront paths that turns spectacular in early October fall colour. The 80m of elevation is gentle, making this a genuine PB course. October temperatures are typically ideal — 8–14°C — and the fall leaves make every kilometre visually rewarding. Crowd support is enthusiastic through both city centres and along the lake district. Registration is popular but available, and the Medtronic sponsorship ensures a well-resourced, premium race experience.
