Geneva's marathon is one of the most visually spectacular in Europe. The course follows Lake Geneva's northern shore past the famous Jet d'Eau fountain (one of the world's tallest), through Geneva's Old Town with its 11th-century cathedral, along the vine-terraced UNESCO World Heritage Lavaux wine region, and returns along the lake to the finish. The 130m of elevation comes from gentle lakeside rolling terrain. May conditions of 12–19°C and low humidity make this a solid PB course. As a UNICEF charity partner race, it attracts runners motivated by purpose as well as performance. The Mont Blanc massif backdrop across the lake is visible on clear mornings.
