About this race

Guadalajara's marathon is Mexico's fastest course and one of the most technically favourable in Latin America. The route runs through the historic centro histórico past the iconic Hospicio Cabañas (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), along Avenida Alcalde, around the famous Minerva fountain and Diana statue, and through the upmarket Chapalita neighbourhood. At 1,500m altitude, the air is noticeably thin — but the 80m of elevation gain and November temperatures of 12–20°C partially compensate. Organisation is improving annually and the field has grown substantially as Mexican recreational running culture has exploded. The mariachi bands, street food stalls, and extraordinary crowd support through the centro are uniquely Guadalajaran.
