The Tata Mumbai Marathon is Asia's most popular city marathon, drawing 55,000+ runners and spectators in the millions. The route takes runners along Marine Drive (the famous Queen's Necklace seafront promenade), past the Gateway of India, through Worli and Bandra-Kurla Complex, and over the iconic Bandra-Worli Sea Link bridge — a highlight that offers sweeping ocean views. January is Mumbai's coolest month (20–28°C), manageable if you're heat-acclimatised and run conservatively. Humidity is lower in January than the monsoon months. The crowd support is extraordinary in its volume and enthusiasm — this is a city that treats the marathon as a festival. For international runners, Mumbai is an excellent gateway to India: the food, chaos, and contrast of the city are part of the experience. The event is Gold Label certified by World Athletics.
