Riyadh's marathon reflects Saudi Arabia's dramatic Vision 2030 transformation — from a city that banned public entertainment a decade ago to one that now hosts a Formula 1 race, international concerts, and an international marathon. The flat course runs through Riyadh's financial district past the Kingdom Centre Tower (the iconic keyhole-topped skyscraper), along King Fahad Road's enormous divided boulevard, through the rapidly changing entertainment district, and near the UNESCO-listed Diriyah heritage site — the ancestral home of the Al Saud dynasty. February conditions of 14–22°C are Riyadh's most comfortable racing window. The race is a symbol of the country's social evolution: open to men and women equally, with international runners welcome.
