About this race

Doha's marathon runs through one of the world's most rapidly transformed cities — a fishing village 50 years ago, now home to some of the world's most audacious architecture. The flat course (25m elevation) runs along the Corniche waterfront with the Arabian Gulf on one side and Doha's hypermodern skyline on the other, past the Pearl-Qatar artificial island development, the Museum of Islamic Art (a masterpiece by I.M. Pei), Katara Cultural Village, and Education City. March conditions (18–25°C) are the year's most comfortable — late spring through autumn is genuinely dangerous for outdoor running in Qatar. The contrast between the traditional dhow harbour and the glass towers beyond it is strikingly cinematic throughout the race.
