About this race

Jordan's marathon is arguably the world's most geologically extraordinary road race. The course begins at the shore of the Dead Sea at 430m below sea level — the lowest point on any landmass on earth — and climbs through the Jordanian desert escarpment toward the Wadi Rum-adjacent landscape en route to the rose-red Nabataean city of Petra. The 420m of elevation comes from the extraordinary climb from below sea level up through the Dead Sea panorama viewpoint. March conditions of 14–22°C are perfect for Jordan's desert climate. Runners finish near Wadi Musa for the iconic Petra siq approach. The combination of geological extremity, ancient history (Petra is one of the New Seven Wonders of the World), and desert landscape makes this one of the world's most compelling marathon destinations.
