Montevideo's marathon is South America's most underrated PB opportunity. The course uses the famous Rambla — a 22km coastal promenade that runs along the Río de la Plata waterfront from Pocitos to the Old City and back. With just 60m of elevation, this is one of South America's flattest marathon courses. June is the Southern Hemisphere winter — temperatures of 8–14°C are perfect for racing. Montevideo is a small, safe, beautifully preserved capital with a European character: Art Deco buildings, wide tree-lined boulevards, and excellent beef and red wine culture for post-race recovery. Entry is affordable, the organisation is professional, and the waterfront scenery throughout the course is stunning.
