About this race

The Kilimanjaro Marathon is one of Africa's most beloved destination races — a course through the Chagga farmlands at the foot of Africa's highest peak (5,895m, Uhuru Peak), with Kilimanjaro's glaciated summit visible throughout the race on clear mornings. The route runs through Moshi town, along dirt and tarmac roads through coffee and banana plantation communities, past Chagga villages whose residents line the route in traditional dress, and back through Moshi's colonial-era centre. The 195m of elevation at 890m altitude is modest — genuinely accessible to trained runners. March is one of Kilimanjaro's clearest windows before the long rains begin. The race raises funds for local Tanzanian community projects. An extraordinary African marathon destination.
