About this race

Jerusalem's marathon is the most spiritually and historically significant running event on earth. The course passes the Old City's ancient walls, the Damascus Gate, the Via Dolorosa, the Western Wall plaza (where you run within metres of the most sacred site in Judaism), the Tower of David, the Garden of Gethsemane on the slopes of the Mount of Olives, Yad Vashem, the Israel Museum, and the Knesset. The 615m of elevation across Jerusalem's limestone hills is among the most demanding in world marathoning — there are no flat kilometres. March temperatures of 12–20°C are pleasant. The spiritual weight of the setting — 3,000 years of human civilisation concentrated in a few square kilometres — makes this a uniquely moving experience for runners of any background.
